Mercenaries
Trust and lifelong companions
Trust is the bond a mercenary builds with your guild. The mercenary sheet shows it as boxes, up to 5. It rises when you send them out together, give them rear duty, or when a battle leaves a memory such as saving each other.
Favors
At 4 boxes of trust, that mercenary's favor opens. You have nowhere special to go. Read the favor on the mercenary sheet or in the lineup, then send them out and meet the condition. Examples: beat a boss at or above a set floor together, save an ally about to fall, or stay standing to the end in a fight where half fall. Only members who fought can finish a favor, so rear duty does not count.
Lifelong companions
Finish the favor and fill trust to become a lifelong companion, who never retires on their own. They still age, and they leave if morale hits zero.
