Battles above floor 400 have changed

2026-10-31

From floor 400, enemies break through your defense more, and the effect grows the higher you climb. Enemy health stays the same, so fights do not drag on. Your mercenaries can fall again.

As gear piled up, defense worked too well. On floors around 800, an enemy hit took less than 1% of a mercenary's health. Nobody fell, the front line had no job, and battles turned into the stalemates many of you described.

How much harder enemies hit

Floor 500s 2.2% 5.7% Floor 570s 1.5% 6.0% Floor 800s 0.7% 6.8% Floor 950s 0.4% 5.6%
Share of health taken by one enemy hit. Gray is before, gold is now. Estimated from average stats of a team with a front line, without skills or critical hits.

If you already have a company

Up to your highest floor when you first open 1.25, nothing changes. The new rule then phases in over the next 50 floors. If you updated at floor 800, the full rule applies from floor 850. New companies get it from floor 400.

Only the normal tower climb changes. Weekly hunts, trials and memory trials stay the same.

How to adjust your team

A team with a front line lasts longer than one built only on damage. We tested the same saves on many floors above 400: a team with a front line won about 68% of fights, and five damage dealers with a healer won about 48%. These are single fights with no growth in between.

  • Put a knight or warrior in front, and upgrade armor first.
  • Check the battle forecast. Above floor 400 it counts the harder hits, and "Overwhelming" only appears when a loss is very unlikely.
  • After a loss, read the line on the result screen. It tells you whether a hidden enemy, a missing counter or bad luck decided the fight.

What changed alongside it

Specialties. Named and paid heroes can now learn specialties at the training ground. A specialty that turns off Split, Regeneration or Veil also turns off matching enemy affixes. The relic that blocks splitting now blocks the affix as well.

Prime. Stats now start to fall based on years in your company instead of age. See Will and retirement.

This applies from 1.25.1 on iPhone and iPad, and from 1.25.2 on Android.
