Patch notes

1.18.0 Update Notes

Party setup has a new layout and your company can grow to 20 members. We fixed the app crashing in long high-floor battles and added a saver mode that tones down effects when the device runs hot.

1.18.0

Party Setup

6 items
  • The party sheet has a new layout. Only the list scrolls, and the members you pick stay in fixed slots at the bottom
  • Tap a bottom slot to move that member to the other row or take them out
  • Card portraits are cropped around the face and drawn larger. A corner chip shows the grade, and an icon under the name shows the most urgent status
  • Tap a card to pick it, or press and hold to open its details
  • More cards fit on one screen. Saved parties and the suggested lineup now sit under the Manage Party button
  • Small portraits on the Base, recruit, roster and battle screens use the same face art

Company Size

2 items
  • The base roster limit is now 12. Saves with the Roster Expansion perk go straight to 16
  • A new Company Expansion perk in the Guild branch of Abyss Perks raises the limit to 20

New Heroes Irena and Rien

4 items

Rien joins at floor 100, Irena from the shop

  • Irena von Strahl is the Emperor's champion duelist, a paid hero from the shop. Her signature skill, The Hundredth Duel, stabs one enemy three times, and the last thrust is a critical hit
  • Rien Silvas is an elf bard who has left a song on every floor of the Tower. You meet her in the floor 100 bond quest. Her signature skill, Recurring Refrain, raises your allies' attack and lowers enemy defense
  • Both have a personal story and a breakthrough look, and their signature skills have their own effect art
  • Saves already past floor 100 will see Rien's quest marked as newly opened

New Class and New Art

5 items
  • The new Swordsman class (human) fights with imperial dueling swordplay and drives deep thrusts into one enemy. Swordsmen appear among recruit offers
  • Many existing mercenaries are redrawn as new characters, with new illustrations, battle sprites, attack animations and breakthrough looks
  • Some classes now have separate male and female looks, and new applicants of those classes come as either
  • Azure Wolf, Fenmao, Brin, Kaiser von Arnheim, Izel, Durganthor, Rask, Vespera, Serafina, Yeoncheong and Baekri Hyang are redrawn
  • The swordmaster skill Plum Blossom Triad is renamed Breeze Triad

Recruiting

6 items
  • Applicants now come in Genius, Star, Elite and Gem tiers. When a Star has not shown up for a while, the odds of one slowly rise
  • The recruit list, recruit details and roster share one bar that shows current ability and how far each mercenary can grow
  • A Genius or Star applicant arrives with a reveal scene and a notice on the Base. If you try to leave without recruiting them, the game asks once
  • New mercenaries can grow up to 20 above their starting potential through battle. Mercenaries you already have keep the old rule
  • The list says when regular candidates change, and the game asks before a recall if a candidate with S potential would be lost
  • Human mercenaries outside the martial-arts classes no longer get martial-arts names

Battle Effects

8 items
  • When a named hero uses a signature skill, their illustration sweeps across the screen. Floor lord skills show the lord's illustration too
  • Skills that fire at the same moment now play one after another instead of overlapping
  • The final blow of a battle plays in slow motion with a large finishing number. When one skill hits the same enemy several times, a total appears
  • Lowered enemy defense shows a mark and a "DEF down" label
  • The Skill cut-ins setting lets you pick Always, First time, Simple or Off
  • First floor lord kills, personal trial clears and Abyss awakenings get a full-screen scene, and gear or relics above your best grade get their own effect
  • Rare rewards and item sounds use recorded sound effects, and battle sounds are refined
  • Collecting gold on the Base sends coins flying, and facility upgrades and reputation gains get small effects

Crashes and Heat

6 items
  • Fixed the app crashing back to the title screen during long runs of skill-heavy high-floor battles. Each battle was holding on to a bit more device memory
  • The Effects setting is now Full or Saver. Saver caps how many effect sprites show at once and turns off heavy effects to cut heat and battery drain
  • When the device is hot or in Low Power Mode, battles use Saver effects even on Full and say so once when the battle starts. Turn this off with the Auto saver setting
  • At 1.5x speed and above, Full effects also cap the number of effect sprites. Signature skill and floor lord skill art still shows
  • The screen stops redrawing while a battle is paused
  • On Android devices with a 120Hz screen, the game draws at 60Hz

Fixed

6 items
  • Long names were cut off in mercenary and recruit details, as in "Kaiser von Arn…"
  • Mercenaries revived from the Hall of Fame or reincarnated could come back as a different gender
  • Recruiting during the Reincarnation Corridor let the returning soul push the roster over its limit
  • When every member was in treatment, the Next Week button label overflowed the button
  • After gear dropped once, the floor result screen played the rare reward sound on every floor
  • The shard count in the recall line read like a cost. It now says shards held

Changed

4 items
  • Auto-equip on the tower prep screen shows a dot when better gear is available
  • The bar end grade in recruit details now has a "By effort" label so you know what the end means
  • Switching bottom tabs fades the screen in
  • The Base boss card border and panel title underlines are now drawn art
